I noticed yesterday that adjusting the pH of a Dawn-based mix made with bottled mineral water did not result in the slightly cloudy/milky cast that mixes using tap water develop. The pre-adjustment pH was 8.5. It was adjusted down to 7.6 using citric acid. Diluting the same eGoo (my 2013/12/25 batch) with tap water developed the familiar slightly cloudy cast when the citric acid was added.

For mix 1, I used Crystal Springs mineral water (because I needed the jug).

For one gallon of juice, about 0.75 grams of citric acid was needed to adjust from 8.5 down to 7.6. This was 1/8 level teaspoon plus about another half of the 1/8 tsp measure (1/16th) of a teaspoon.
